Opportunity - General Manager
The Strait Area Transit Co-operative Ltd. is currently
seeking applicants for the position of a General Manager.
The General Manager would be reporting to the Board of
Directors and would be responsible for the development and
ongoing day-to-day operations of the Strait Area Transit
System. He/She will provide the direction and leadership
into the daily activities including the safety, regulatory
compliance, policies and procedures and securing funding.
Skills/Experience
• A proven leader with demonstrated supervisory/management
skills
• Sound communication skills, verbal and written
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to
interact with government officials, employees and the
general public
• Ability to develop funding proposals
• A working knowledge of financial management, including
budget preparation
• Demonstrated administrative skills
• Strong public relations skills and marketing ability
• Ability to assess, plan and evaluate service, routing and
scheduling
• Relevant work experience would be an asset
The successful candidate will be provided the opportunity to
obtain the necessary training to achieve bus driver
certification in cases of emergencies.

The Richmond County RCMP have an opening for
the position of Auxiliary Constable. This is a
volunteer, non-paid position within the RCMP. Auxiliary
Constables must be willing to contribute a minimum and
regular amount of hours to the program. To be eligible to
participate in the program an applicant must:
- be at least 19 years of age;
- be a Canadian citizen of good character;
- have a mature and responsible attitude;
- have successfully completed high-school or equivalent
work-related experience;
- possess a valid driver's licence;
- meet the medical and fitness standards set out by the RCMP;
- pass a security clearance check;
- have no business/employment conflict of interest;
- possess current certification in Standard level First Aid
and CPR and maintain these standards as re-certification is
required.
Auxiliary Constables may be deployed in non-enforcement
community policing and crime prevention activities. Other
duties include but are not limited to:
- Neighborhood watch
- Home/business security checks
- Parades
- Public speaking
- Traffic control
- Drug awareness
- Patrols
Any applications may be made at the Chapel Island, St.
Peter's or Arichat detachments of the RCMP to the attention
of Constable Jake Foran. All applicats must pick up an
